PSW ontario

One of the most frequently asked questions regarding PSW's is how much do they make? While no perfect and complete answer exists, there is a small amount of data from varying sources. We find the three best sources for PSW Ontario salary to be:

Payscale

Payscale is the 'big boy' of online salary figures, yet it is safe to say that the amount of data for the PSW salary is somewhat lacking. The payscale sample consists of under 500 reporting workers. This data is no worse than anywhere else online but it does create a large gap between high and low end starting wages. Payscale lists the starting wage at $11.71 - $15.04 per hour

PersonalSupportWorker.ca

The personal support worker canada study isn't much better. It contains an even smaller sample of 50 job offerings. The average wage is reportered via online job advertisments. They calculate the average starting wage at $14.53

CUPE

The CUPE study is the most recognized study on the internet, sitting near the top of the google listings and is even linked to on the personal support worker wiki page. But it is starting to show it's age, as it was completed in 2003. They found the average wage (not the starting wage) to be $14.43. This includes union and non-union positions.

While no perfect answer exists, one can come to the conclusion that the average starting PSW Ontario Wage is right around $14 per hour. If the government increases funding as they did a few years ago workers in the industry could expect another bump in pay.
